Inline Lever/Lever

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in various finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle for patio door a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger size handle that is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi point door lock mechanism. When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles.

After you have identified the proper PZ size and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, like anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro door handles cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is important that it is not too long.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. They are designed to minimize attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and less difficult than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated inside the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. These handles used to have no spring and would droop when the window locking handles mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the most effective ways to fix this, and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in an open or closed position, since they aren't always simple to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You will require a bespoke hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.
