Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, like the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the necessary element or material required for the upgrade to take place.
