The fridge is built with the standard French door layout, with two rows of spill-capture shelving and a set crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more headroom. There's also a full-width storage drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker making it easy to move the frozen ice as needed. The freezer also features thoughtful design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to organize your items. It comes with a large bin to store frozen food items, and a separate one for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can manage the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a great method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't improve the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill foods in this fridge than other refrigerators we tested. This is probably due to its bigger capacity.

The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. The sunken handles allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However taller people struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a excellent choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a french style fridge-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and is able to cool evenly. This is a great performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.
