iRobot Combo Review

Combo is the first mop-and-vacuum robot, and it's also the company's best-looking. Its brushed aluminum top piece and iRobot logo are more elegant than the loud designs of competitors.

You can use the iRobot Home app to set up and guide your robot. The app collects data on usage and maps of your home including furniture and obstructions. Maps and image data is only shared with irobot mop and vacuum combo in the event that you choose to opt-in.

It's not a mop.

The Combo irobot, a very intelligent mopping robot, combines all the power of the fantastic Roomba J7+ and adds a water reservoir onboard, mopping pads and a robot arm that can raise and lower the pad. It can do quite a bit of work in 11 minutes before running out of juice and automatically returning to its base station to recharge.

The combo model also features the iRobot home app, which means you can initiate and stop cleaning runs. The robot is also stylish, with matte black material that does not show dust or fingerprints and a brushed aluminum top part with the tiny irobot self empty Logo.

It's a fantastic vacuum cleaner and does not have any trouble crossing large area carpets or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It can even pick up fine dust that other robotic vacuums miss. However, it's not so great in the field of mow. It's not able to remove dried milk stains, unless you've sent it four or five times.

iRobot’s dedicated Braava jet M6 mopping robot cleaner, which is usually available as a bundle with the j7 plus for less than the price of the combo Combo is a superior job of this and other difficult jobs. It can even clean up wine and ketchup spills, however I wouldn't recommend sending it after any liquids with a high amount of sugar.

It's a vacuum

It's among the more attractive robot vacuums. The top piece is smooth and doesn't display dirt or fingerprints as easily as some of its competitors. The tiny dustbin and water tank of this vacuum are simple to open, but they are not the biggest. The Combo J7+ also has the same smarts you'd expect from iRobot with features like map and obstacle avoidance mapping that works reliably and quickly. However, it's the mopping arm that really makes this model stand out in its class. It keeps the mop pad tucked behind the vacuum, but when it detects an area that requires mopping it lowers the mop pad below and behind the robot. This is a major improvement from other robot vacuums that require users to manually remove the mop pad in order to mop carpets and hard floors, or even turn the whole machine off to mop.

It's an electric charging station

Place your Combo irobot floor cleaner on the changing station and align the metal contacts on the base. The charging station is reliable and is simple to set up. In my tests it took just a few minutes for the robot's to start charging and then make a sound when it was finished. After the Combo robot is fully charged, you can start a mapping run on the app to help the robot comprehend your home. You can also mark specific objects like lamp cords as permanent avoidances within the app. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to direct it around the home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots use acoustic sensors and onboard cameras to identify the type of floor they are cleaning, as well the objects that are in your home. It then combines this information with maps of your home and data from the robot's onboard camera to create a customized cleaning plan for each space. It is smart enough to keep your lamp cords, couch, and other objects that you wish to keep. As with all connected devices, there are questions about the privacy of these data. irobot Price however, states that it will never sell any customer information and will not take any images without the consent of the customers.
